Phil Smithyes joined Horwath Clark Whitehill in March 2008 as Managing Director of Financial Services based in our Thames Valley office. His main specialism is private client work, focused around providing highly personalised face-to-face advice to private clients in all aspects of financial planning with a strong bias towards pre and post retirement planning, advising primarily on pensions and investments. Phil is a firm believer in adopting an open approach to spending considerable time in gaining a full understanding of his client’s circumstances, ambitions and personal objectives. This enables him to gain a clear understanding of their needs so that he can work alongside his clients to assist them in meeting their financial aspirations. Phil has spent the last five years at a large accountancy firm as Investment Director in charge of the Southern Region. He has worked within the Life and Pensions industry since 1987 and has been an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA) for the last 14 years. Phil has achieved his Advanced Financial Planning Certificate including the successful completion of qualifications in advanced pensions planning, taxation and trusts and personal investment planning. Phil is also qualified as a Certified Financial Planner and recently received a prestigious award from the Institute of Financial Planning in recognition of having submitted the best financial plan in 2007 for someone studying to become a Certified Financial Planner.
