Improving standards of scheme governance and administration

As part of our continued commitment to the good governance of pension schemes, the National Pensions Group has undertaken a survey and produced a quality publication covering specific aspects of governance such as data integrity and internal controls in relation to the administration of a pension scheme. This follows the publication of our investment governance surveys in 2008 and 2009.

For this particular topic, the National Pensions Team surveyed close to 50 schemes on their risk management framework, scheme governance, the integrity of their member date and their risk and control procedures.

With the Pensions Regulator focusing on improving standards in pension scheme governance and administration, there comes the need for schemes to revisit their risk register to confirm that they reflect the risks associated with data integrity, quality and accuracy of data and communication to members.
