Meet our specialist professional practices group Louis Baker, Head of Professional Practices Group Louis is our lead partnership tax partner. He chairs Horwath Clark Whitehill's Supervisory Board and heads up our national Professional Practices Group and Private Client tax department in the London office. He is also responsible for the firm's own tax affairs. His client work almost exclusively focuses on acting for professional service firms and their partners. These include many firms practicing as LLPs. Louis is a member of the Tax Committee of the Association of Partnership Practitioners and the personal tax committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He speaks on partnership and LLP tax matters at external conferences and is responsible for producing our 'Partner Briefing' updates on tax matters affecting partners in professional firms.
David Furst, Partner David Furst is Chairman of Horwath Clark Whitehill. He is also a member of the Board of Horwath International. Until April 2004 he was the firm’s Chief Executive and before that Finance Partner. He was a founding committee member of The Association of Partnership Practitioners and currently a member of its Multi-Disciplinary Practice subcommittee.
Steve Gale, Partner Steve's clients include major firms of accountants, lawyers, surveyors and patent agents. He is a member of the Steering Committee for the Statement of Recommended Practice 'Accounting by Limited Liability Partnerships' and produced the Accounting Digest on LLPs published by the Institute of Chartered Accountants. He has advised on a number of conversions of partnerships to LLP, dealing particularly with the accounting implications and there impact on LLP agreements. Steve is co-author of "Companies Act 2006 - The New Law" published by Jordans and contributes the chapters on accounting, financial reporting and auditing to Gore Browne on Companies.
