Tom is the Private Client tax partner in the Manchester office, having joined the firm in 2008.

Tom trained with a Big 4 firm and has considerable experience in dealing with all aspects of personal taxation for high net worth clients and their families. His particular interest is in providing advice to entrepreneurial clients on the tax consequences and planning opportunities arising from their business interests. With an emphasis on capital gains tax and
inheritance tax, Tom has worked with clients on numerous transactions to ensure that the burden of tax is legitimately mitigated thus maximising the value retained and ensuring that the ongoing structure of protected where appropriate.

Tom also has significant experience in the use of trusts for families to ensure that their wealth is protected from the ravages of taxation and potential future creditors.

Tom is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

Steve is the Corporate Tax Partner in our Manchester office. Prior to joining in August 2008, Steve held a senior management position at a Big Four firm plus he has experience of working in commerce.

Steve advises a wide range of clients from start-up businesses through to large UK privately owned and private equity backed companies. He also has extensive international tax experience and advises both inbound and outbound investment companies on effective UK tax structuring as well as managing their UK tax compliance requirements.


Steve's main focus is on providing timely and proactive tax advice to companies throughout their business lifecycle with particular emphasis on optimising the tax position in relation to acquisition, disposal, group reorganisation and cross border planning. Steve also has considerable experience of dealing with company taxation compliance matters and managing HM Revenue & Customs enquiries and contentious issues.

Michael is the Managing Partner of the Manchester office and is responsible for providing audit and accounting services to a full range of clients including corporates and LLPs, across many different sectors and ranging from OMBs to listed companies. He provides clients with focused business advice relevant to their organisation.

He is experienced in the reporting requirements of listed companies and advises on the adoption of IFRS. Michael also has wide experience in financial services and AIM flotations.

Vicky qualified as a chartered accountant with an independent Bradford based practise before moving to the Big 4 and becoming a departmental senior manager. She joined Horwath Clark Whitehill in Manchester in 2007 as an audit partner responsible for owner-managed businesses and not for profit organisations.


Vicky has looked after owner-managed businesses, charities, independent schools and social housing clients throughout her career and has a wealth of experience in these sectors. She often presents at seminars on topical commercial, technical and governance issues.


Within the owner-managed business sphere she has particular experience in media, property & construction and engineering clients. Vicky has also acted for a number of AIM listed clients and several complex groups.

Jacob has been a partner since 2001 and heads up the Manchester office Personal Financial Planning department.

He joined the firm in 2001 following a merger with a local accountancy firm, where he had been a partner since 1986. He specialises in the planning aspects of private client work, with a strong focus on Personal Tax and Financial Planning
for high net worth individuals.

Jacob is a Chartered Accountant, Chartered Tax Adviser, Trusts & Estates Practitioner and a Certified Financial Planner. His rare blend of skills and experience enables him to provide his clients with a comprehensive, proactive and imaginative
approach to financial planning.

Jacob enjoys helping his clients to develop, formulate, implement and monitor their lifelong financial plans which are designed to achieve their goals and objectives. Using detailed cash flow modelling and 'what-if' scenario analysis, he
assists clients in reorganising their finances and in taking long-term strategic decisions.
