Meet our specialist corporate finance team George Cranston, Head of Corporate Finance Group George has led the Corporate Finance Group since its formation in 1992. He has over 20 years experience in providing a broad range of corporate finance services to small listed companies and private companies of all sizes. His experience includes the raising of venture and development capital, debt and equity fund raising for management buy outs and buy ins, divestitures and advisory services in respect of corporate acquisitions. The transaction size has ranged from £5m to £175m. George has also advised on reverse takeovers and initial public offerings with initial market capitalisation of over £150m. Recently George has been providing services to companies in the technology and media sectors but he also has significant experience in retail and engineering. Ian Dale, Partner Ian has extensive experience in providing corporate advice, audit services and transaction support to both private and listed companies in a wide variety of industries. Ian is a member of the firm’s National Executive Team, its listed company groups and is the non-executive chairman of Horwath Clark Whitehill Financial Services Limited. Alastair Lyons, Partner Alastair has been involved with the flotation of several companies including those on AIM and NASDAQ. He was appointed partner in 2000 and continues to be involved with a number of due diligence and other investigation assignments as well as acting for a portfolio of clients, many with formal reporting requirements. Alastair is the office’s Audit Compliance Partner and a member of the firm’s listed clients committee. Dave May, Partner Dave has many years experience advising on corporate finance and tax issues and his in-depth knowledge has guided clients ranging from public companies through to small private companies. Dave acts as part-time Finance Director for a client and has been on Horwath Clark Whitehill’s Executive Board as well as managing partner of the Firm’s London office. He is a member of the ICAEW and is a qualified Corporate Finance practitioner. Pat Moore , Partner Pat heads up Corporate Finance in the Midlands. She is well known in the Midlands Corporate Finance community and has been an active adviser for many years, formerly in the listed company arena but latterly in the private sector. She adopts a common sense approach to all of her transactions. Pat specialises in a wide range of corporate finance transactions including: Management buy-outs, Management buy-ins, acquisitions, sales of companies, mergers, group reorganisations and fund raising, mainly for the SME and owner-managed business, dealing with both UK and International buyers and sellers of businesses. Her experience covers a wide variety of sectors including manufacturing, distribution and IPR led businesses. Pat is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and has an advanced Diploma in Corporate Finance.
Martin Regan, Partner Geert Struyven, Partner Geert has specialised in corporate finance work since 1998 and has a wide variety of experience having handled a number of high profile assignments including sale mandates, corporate acquisitions, MBO’s and MBI’s. Geert has also extensive experience in transaction support, including flotations and subsequent public fund raisings, vendor due diligence, private equity investigations and other acquisition due diligence assignments. Geert joined Horwath Clark Whitehill as a partner in 2007 to strengthen its national corporate finance team and to further its contact base both within the UK and overseas. Prior to qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Geert was lecturing at the University of Wales where he obtained an MBA and a PhD. Geert is a fluent Dutch speaker and is a member of the ICAEW.
Ian Weekes, Partner Ian is the partner responsible for the audit department in the Kent office and heads the Kent transaction support team which he established in 2001 and whose work covers all regions of the UK as well as overseas. Since joining Horwath Clark Whitehill in 1989, after training with a Kent based firm, Ian has progressed to partner gaining a wealth of knowledge and technical skill along the way. His particular expertise is in transaction support including flotations, the audits of regulated businesses and the not for profit sector. Ian has built up a diverse portfolio of clients with specific regard to the food, travel, gaming, financial services and not for profit sectors.
Peter Varley , Partner Peter has experience in a broad range of corporate finance services and has advised companies in a number of diverse sectors. Clients have included both small and medium sized privately owned companies and substantial public companies. Peter and his team have worked on a number of cross border transactions, including transactions involving companies with operations in the US, China, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Malaysia, Romania, Russia, Spain, Turkey and other territories. Peter has provided clients with a range of due diligence and investigation services including pre acquisition due diligence, pre lending and viability reviews for banks, pre investment due diligence for financial institutions and assignments for different government departments. This experience has included Reporting Accountant responsibilities on a number of transactions including IPOs on the Official List of the London Stock Exchange, AIM and other public markets plus transaction support on acquisitions, reverse takeovers and other public circulars. Peter has experience in a diverse cross section of industries including vehicle parts, specialty chemicals, property, publishing, food manufacturing, recruitment, real estate agencies, lighting products, auto dealerships, oil & gas, manufacturing, financial services and many others.
