Meet our specialist international corporate group Peter Varley, Partner Peter is a partner in our Corporate Finance Division and has experience in a broad range of transaction support services. In addition, he has experience as Reporting Accountant in a number of IPOs and subsequent public company transactions. He has advised privately owned companies as well as public companies in a number of diverse sectors. Peter has provided clients with a range of due diligence and investigation services including pre acquisition due diligence, pre lending and viability reviews and pre investment due diligence for financial institutions. Peter is a member of the Horwath International Corporate Advisory taskforce and has taken a lead role in an increasing number of international transactions. Nigel Bostock, Partner Nigel joined the firm in 1991 as a graduate trainee and became a partner in April 2005. During his time with the firm he has obtained a wide range of experience from working in both the firm’s London and Manchester offices. Nigel is a partner specialising in the audit of corporate and LLP clients from private entrepreneurial businesses to AIM and fully listed entities. He has valuable experience with financial reporting at all levels and is therefore familiar with the requirements and challenges these present for different entities. His experience and portfolio covers listed, group, subsidiary and private companies across a range of industry sectors operating both within the UK and Internationally. Nigel specialises in both the UK GAAP and the IFRS requirements for financial reporting and assists within the firm on technical financial reporting matters. His responsibilities within the firm include the coordination and development of the firm’s International Financial Reporting Standards Group. Nigel has developed the firm’s own internal publications on IFRS and is a co-author of the Informa Self Study Course ‘IFRS in Practice’. He also presents on IFRS to the Horwath International Audit and Assurance Committee. Nigel has worked with a number of listed companies on the specific challenges arising from the accounting treatment and financial reporting for share based payments. In addition to auditing and financial reporting, Nigel advises on employee share schemes, valuations and employment matters. David Chitty, Partner David joined Horwath Clark Whitehill in January 2007 as an audit and assurance partner in London. Previously part of the senior management team at a mid-tier firm, he headed up their technical and compliance team and was a director of the International network of firms. David is responsible for providing audit services to clients which include companies listed on the London Stock Exchange and AIM. David’s clients are drawn from sectors including technology, telecommunications, property and professional services. He has a particular interest in businesses with international activities. David is involved with a number of initiatives to develop the firm’s corporate client base. David is also a presenter on professional matters and speaks on CPD courses organised by several of the professional accountancy bodies. He works alongside David Furst as a member of the Council of the ICAEW and is Vice-Chairman of the Institute’s Practice Advisory Board. He also chairs the International Firms Network initiative that the ICAEW has established. David is a member of the Small and Medium Practices Committee of the International Federation of Accountants. Paul Fay, Partner Paul is a Corporate Tax Partner in our London office. Paul advises clients ranging from privately owned businesses through to the tax departments of quoted multi nationals. Paul’s main focus is on advisory work for larger corporates, covering transfer pricing, cross border tax planning and tax efficient structuring of transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, mergers, demergers, flotations and reorganisations. Paul also has wide experience of negotiating with the UK Revenue on contentious issues. Paul has contributed a number of tax articles to external and in-house publications. Nigel Glover, Partner Nigel is a partner specialising in the taxation of companies and their shareholders. His clients include several major UK listed companies as well as a number of smaller quoted and family-owned businesses. He acts as an external tax adviser to tax directors of several major companies. Specialisms include the common law tax principles of business taxation, corporate restructuring and the taxation aspects of cross border business and financing transactions. Nigel is a member of the Horwath International Tax Committee. Martin Israel , Partner Martin is an experienced audit and business assurance partner with over 25 years in general practice, specialising in advising clients in a wide range of industries, including motor, travel, retail, property, recruitment and training. He has significant depth and breadth of experience in entrepreneurial family owned businesses and also advises foreign companies looking to set up UK operations. He has been involved in a large number of corporate transactions, typically involving owner-managed businesses selling out to large corporates or floating on AIM. David Mellor, Partner David Mellor is a partner specialising in the taxation of companies and their shareholders and particularly multinational and quoted groups. His background is in corporate and international tax, corporate finance and cross border deal structuring and M&A. He has particular expertise in structuring international groups, tax incentives for shareholders, planning for growth, acquisitions and divestments and helping clients maximise their wealth. David is a member of the QCA tax committee, working for the needs of quoted companies outside the FTSE 350. His particular industry expertise lies in mining & minerals, hotels leisure & tourism, telecommunications, software & IT, media & advertising. David is the UK firm’s International Liaison partner and a member of the Horwath International Tax Committee. Jaki Mitchell, Partner Jaki was appointed as an Audit Partner in 2006 and heads up our Thames Valley Accounting Solutions Group, which offers a comprehensive range of accountancy outsourcing services to UK businesses and inward investing companies setting up in the UK. Jaki works closely with her clients to build strong relationships and has a wealth of experience in advising companies on the structuring of their accounting systems, procedures and processes. She also specialises in advising foreign parent companies or UK Directors who are investing into the UK for the first time. Michael Jayson, Partner Michael is Managing Partner of the Manchester office and is partner responsible for providing audit and accounting services to a full range of clients including corporates and LLPs, across many different sectors and ranging from OMBs to listed companies. He is experienced in the reporting requirements of listed companies and advises on the adoption of IFRS. Michael also has wide experience in financial services and AIM flotations.
